ODOR DETECTION

The Odor Detection Handler School was created to give private contractors or people who want to work in the private security work space, a top tier education as an odor detection K9 handler.  The Charon K9 Solutions hander school is a recognized and comprehensive 160 hour training and certification course designed to prepare handlers to work with odor detection dogs in the Narcotics, Contraband, Conservation, Firearms, Electronic Storage Device, Money, Mold and Bed Bugs detection fields.  This is a “general” course allowing for the handler to effectively work with their K9 partner within these varied disciplines, but may not have found their focus or who might work with multiple K9s.

FIREARMS DETECTION

Gun violence is increasing at an alarming rate, the need for firearms detection teams is becoming a top priority for many Law Enforcement departments around the country. A firearms detection team can safely, and efficiently find hidden firearms, parts to firearms, spent shell casings, GSR (Gunshot residue) and even bullets related to crimes, they are an invaluable part of any firearms related investigation.
The Firearms Detection Handler School was designed to prepare professional Law Enforcement, Military, or Private Contractor K9 handlers to work with a firearms detection dog for detection of odors related to firearms.  Dogs are imprinted on real odor, not synthetics, as to increase their proficiency, reliability and accuracy.  This course focuses on the unique nature and differences in firearms detection as compared to other odor detection dogs.

NARCOTICS DETECTION

The detection of narcotics and firearms in school systems, correctional facilities, private businesses or cargo is critical.  The presence of these items is not just a legal issue but also a safety issue.  The Charon K9 Narcotics Detection Handler School has been designed to train law enforcement officers and private contractors to detect narcotic and contraband odors in a wide array of environments and provides the handler with a documented training and subsequent certification recognized by employers to make you more marketable as a K9 handler.   Detection dogs are imprinted and trained on real narcotics odor, not synthetics.  Focus is on cocaine, methamphetamines and heroin, additional odors such as marijuana, MDMA and firearms can be added if desired by your organization.  This course focuses on the unique nature and differences in Narcotics detection as compared to other odor detection dogs.
